I'll come back with more travel news soon, but for the moment I want to share info about a cool event we've got going on this weekend. I'm busy packing up books and fliers and the v.cool poster that Alpha made for me (of the book cover), and I'm taking it all to South Florida for a fun book signing and talk at the new totally green restaurant, Pizza Fusion. Founders Michael Gordon and Vaughan Lazar have applied every green principle they could come up with to their fast-growing franchise business, and I am excited to see how well they're doing. They're using heat from the pizza ovens to warm their water, they serve organic and vegan food and drinks, and they deliver in hybrid vehicles. They opened this headquarter store in Fort Lauderdale in February 2006 and already they've sold more than 50 franchises in seven states around the country - the world wants green businesses! I hope all my friends and everyone who's going green will join us at:
Pizza Fusion, 1013 N. Federal Highway, across from the Gateway Theater
in Fort Lauderdale at 3 p.m. tomorrow, Sunday, November 17.

Thanks for GoingGreen!

Another fun thing we did in New York was attend the Skyrider and Sole CD release party at the Knitting Factory in Soho. Skyrider is my son's band, and they've been touring around with the very cool rapper Sole, aka Tim Holland. It was a thrill for my beautiful daughter Rachel and I to be able to be there with my son and his friends.

The Wicked Green Festival was loads of fun as Harlem neighbors celebrated the opening of their newly renovated Friendship Garden park, a tiny haven of bright colors, plants and even a built-in firepit for warming hands while catching up with friends. There were lots of fun things to do, like watch a pumpkin carving artist and have your face painted, and plenty of nifty samples for kids to fill their Wicked/NYRP reusable shopping bags. Festival volunteer Eric helped staff our GoGreenGift booth, offering raffle tickets for a GoGreenGift and two copies of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Green Living. Bette Midler stopped by to wish neighbors well and tell a little bit about why she founded the New York Restoration Project, which renovated the park, to beautify the city and save it from environmental decay. A fun day was truly had by all, and we were very happy to be included.
