The Wicked Green Festival was loads of fun as Harlem neighbors celebrated the opening of their newly renovated Friendship Garden park, a tiny haven of bright colors, plants and even a built-in firepit for warming hands while catching up with friends. There were lots of fun things to do, like watch a pumpkin carving artist and have your face painted, and plenty of nifty samples for kids to fill their Wicked/NYRP reusable shopping bags. Festival volunteer Eric helped staff our GoGreenGift booth, offering raffle tickets for a GoGreenGift and two copies of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Green Living. Bette Midler stopped by to wish neighbors well and tell a little bit about why she founded the New York Restoration Project, which renovated the park, to beautify the city and save it from environmental decay. A fun day was truly had by all, and we were very happy to be included.
